IHO has been overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters and the amount of items they donate to benefit our residents. Just this past year we have received much needed donations of clothing, household supplies, toys, furniture, and more. The staff and volunteers at IHO have worked tirelessly to sort the many donations and ensure that the women and children we serve can "shop for free" in our basement.
To make things even better for the women and children we serve, IHO has developed a new and exciting partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP). SSVP will now take in, sort and display all of our donations! This change will allow our staff to more time to focus on the one-to-one needs of women and children in the shelter and allow the clients at IHO to access not only our donated items, but all the items at SSVP!
So, moving forward all gently used clothing, furniture and household items that you would donate to IHO can be taken to the SSVP. In exchange, SSVP is providing all clients of IHO with a voucher for free shopping! With these vouchers, our residents can still receive all of the donations the community provides without being restricted by the limited storage space at IHO.
You can support IHO through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul by marking your donations with "Interval House of Ottawa" and dropping them off at 1273 Wellington Street West, 1620 Merivale Road, or one of the many drop off bins located throughout the city. At this time, you can continue to donate brand new toiletries and holiday gifts for women and children this upcoming holiday season to IHO. Some of the items we need include hygiene products for women and men such as:
Deodorant
Razors
Shaving cream
Shampoo
Conditioner
Hair styling products
Body wash & loofas
Underwear
Socks
Pajamas
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Scarves, hats and mitts
Unwrapped toys for children
