Crisis Line
Our free & confidential crisis line is available 24/7, 365 days a year at 613-234-5181
If you are questioning your relationship or fear for the safety of yourself, your children and/or your pets, our crisis line is here to help.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
Our goal is to ensure that every woman who calls IHO receives the support she needs. Our residential program workers provide assistance, support, and advocacy to women who are experiencing abuse. They are also able to provide information to anyone seeking help with how to best support someone who has disclosed abuse to them.
Through our crisis line, we are able to:
-
address and alleviate immediate safety concerns;
-
provide crisis counselling and crisis intervention techniques to alleviate stressful situations;
-
offer advice on creating a safety plan and preparing to leave;
-
offer emotional support and legal information;
-
direct women to the appropriate services and/or resources; and
-
contact other shelters and/or assist women in making safe alternative living arrangements should space at IHO not be available.
Each year our frontline staff answer more than 2,500 calls to our crisis line.
