Community Support

The transitional and housing support program assists women residing in the community to take the next step in their journey towards autonomy, and help them transition to a life free from violence.

Our program offers flexible and practical supports that assist women in transitioning into their new communities. Services can be delivered in person or over the phone and women do not need to be in a shelter to access this support.

Transitional and Housing Support Program Services

Women have access to a number of practical supports through our counsellor, including:

  • development of transitional and safety plans;

  • support in applying for services such as income support, social housing or emergency shelter;

  • short term & referrals to long term counselling

  • a wide referral network to assist with areas such as:

    • legal processes (legal aid, custody, etc.)

    • immigration processes

    • health & wellness services

This program is a unique, city-wide program funded to explore partnerships with community agencies with a focus on services needed by VAW clients. Current partnerships include:

  • City of Ottawa

  • Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa

  • Victim/Witness Assistance Program

Each year, we provide outreach support to more than 200 women through this program.
