Giving Tuesday Now: Showing Our Appreciation

Giving Tuesday Now is a global day of giving and unity taking place as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. It’s an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity and support worthy causes, especially those that have been impacted by this pandemic.

Around the world, people are finding creative ways to support people and organizations who have been impacted by COVID-19. We have continued to be amazed by the support we have seen and received from our community, so we wanted to use today as a way to share our appreciation!

How Your Support Has Helped Women Fleeing Violence During COVID-19

  • Monetary donations coming in have helped to offset our rising COVID-19 related costs. With our costs already exceeding $15,000, every dollar counts and has helped to offset the costs of:

- Groceries

- Cleaning supplies

- Personal protective equipment

- Technology to ensure access to services

- Games, books, and puzzles to keep kids busy

  • While we’ve had to limit volunteers and in-kind donations at the shelter, we’ve been able to secure some essential donations of cloth masks, diapers, and food for families both in shelter and the community.

  • We’ve seen an increase in followers and engagement on all of our social media channels. With so many businesses having to either shut down or adjust their service delivery, it’s more important than ever to get the message out that we are open and here to help. Every post share, like, or re-tweet has helped to get life-saving information out to women across our city.

Whether you’ve donated funds, items, or helped to spread our message – thank you. You are making a difference in the lives of women and children for which home isn’t the safest place to be right now. It’s thanks to your generous support that we are able to continue providing essential services and support to women and children experiencing abuse.

Stay up to date on service changes and learn how you can continue to support vulnerable women and children during this uncertain time.
