On December 3, 2019 IHO will be taking part in Giving Tuesday. GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes.
This year, our goal is to raise $3,300. Why such a specific number? Because $3,300 is the cost to run IHO for one day. Included in this cost is:
providing heat and hot water to a 9,000 sq.ft home
offering a home-cooked dinner, as well as food for all other meals of the day for 30 women and children
staffing our front office, which answers our crisis line, ensures the safety of the house and provides support to residents
providing counselling and practical supports to women and children to help them transition to a life free from violence
We are only partially funded by the provincial government and rely on the generosity of our donors to keep us fully operational.
