Crafting with your support

Updated: Apr 26, 2019

This fall, IHO received a generous donation from a community member of various scrapbooking supplies, including a wide array of paper. Not only did the paper help Brianne to express herself in creating a drum for school, but it provided an activity for the residents and staff as they prepared to celebrate Eid.

As a multicultural household, IHO celebrates all events that are important to our residents. During Eid, the communal dining room was thoroughly decorated, and colourful lanterns made with scrapbooking paper provided the main feature. Hung with string lights, they created a warm atmosphere in the residents’ area. The Eid celebration was topped off with gifts for the children, which were also generously donated by a member of the community.

IHO is grateful to have the support of a compassionate community who is always willing to help our residents in their time of need. Whether by delivering baked goods, groceries for special dinners, gently used clothing, small household supplies, handmade quilts, monetary donations, or simply sharing our name to raise awareness of violence against women, we are often overwhelmed by your generosity. We want you to know that we always appreciate your support in helping to provide the comforts of home to a family as they build their lives free from violence. We couldn’t do it without our community.
