COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 Updates

As the COVID-19 virus situation continues to evolve, we want to provide an update on the Interval House of Ottawa (IHO) and our services.

IHO takes the health and safety of its staff and residents very seriously, and maintaining that safety is a top priority. We have implemented enhanced cleaning measures and follow recommendations from Ottawa Public Health and the Ontario Ministry of Health. We continue to monitor the situation closely.

Reminder: our crisis line is open. If you need support or help-seeking shelter, call us anytime at 613-234-5181.

You can now also text or chat online with a trained counsellor through Unsafe at home Ottawa. This service is available 7 days a week, 8:30 am – midnight. Text to chat (613) 704-5535 or visit unsafeathomeottawa.ca.

Service Updates/Changes

**Updated November 11, 2021

  • All non-essential visits to IHO are suspended, including volunteers.

  • We have implemented contactless donation drop-offs.

  • Community meetings as part of the Transitional & Housing Program are being conducted over the phone or online.

  • Prior to entering our shelter, everyone will be screened for recent travel, proximity to others who have tested positive for COVID-19, and known symptoms of COVID-19.

  • Mandatory hand washing and sanitization upon entering the building have been implemented.

  • Due to reduced onsite staff, wait times for support services in-house may increase.

Thank you for your understanding during this time.
